HEALTH SYSTEM IN UK. My first experience!

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone, this time i will write in English. First of all, sorry for my English, its not good, a lot of grammatical mistake, but i am pretty sure you could understand it. I will try my best,InsyaAllah.

How are you my brothers and sisters? I'm fine Alhamdulillah. I would like to share about my first experience brought my son to the university health centre. Yesterday, i brought my son Adam to Reading University Health Centre for medical checkup since he got flu in the previous week. Actually, Adam just recovered from the flu, but we already book an appointment with the doctor there, thus we decided to just bring him to the health centre for some health consultation and body screening, you know things like body temperature and etc. For your information, the system here is different with Malaysia. In Malaysia, once you get fever or flu, u could just walk in to the hospital or clinic for consultation and after that, u will get the medicine. But here in United Kingdom, you need to book for an appointment with the doctor or nurse first. It may take a day or several days to meet them and maybe at that time you already recovered from your sickness. In my case, my wife booked the appointment last Friday and we only get the chance to meet the doctor yesterday (Monday). The best part in this system is you don't need to wait for a  period of time to meet the doctor, just go to the clinic in the time scheduled for you by the clinic.

How about the medicine? They will give you the medicine prescription and you need to bring it to the nearest pharmacy. How lucky we are as Malaysian? We got the best health system although sometimes you need to wait for hours to meet the doctor.

Back to my story, we met Dr A.Verma, i'm not sure whether he is UK-Pakistani or what but from his face i guess he is Pakistani origin. Dr. A. Verma screened my son body and conclude that Adam is fit! We also told him about Adam immunisation details based on the "Rekod Kesihatan Bayi dan Kanak-kanak" book. If you bring your child to the clinic under Ministry of Health of Malaysia (MOH), you will get that book. Since our concern here is the flu vaccination for Adam since winter is coming soon and this is our first time in UK, so Dr. A.Verma asked us to meet the nurse. The system is same in Malaysia, everything about vaccination is handled by the nurse. Once again, we need to make an appointment to meet the nurse.

As usual, Adam hate doctor.

We booked the appointment after met Dr. A.Verma and luckily we got the chance to meet the nurse on the same day at 2.10 pm. Alhamdulillah!

The nurse here looks so professional like a doctor. Based on my experience working in the MOH, the Nursing Division aims in bringing the nursing profession to be a professional scheme in Malaysia and globally. You cant deny the fact that most of our nurse is wanted in the Middle East coutry due to the professionalism and skills the have. The nurse checked Adam's health report and look through the immunisation that Adam already got in Malaysia. She advised us to take  NeisVac-C injection. This kind of injection is to prevent child from being infected by Meningitis C. We agreed with her advise taking into account that the injection is good for him and in Malaysia, he wont get this vaccine from the government clinic. Before she injected Adam with the vaccine, she explained us about the injection and gave us this leaflet;

Leaflet regarding the NeisVac-C injection

Adam cried so loud, i think everyone in the clinic could hear his voice. Alhamdulillah, no side effect occured to Adam after injection. By the way, most of immunisation programme in Malaysia is same in UK, but there are certain vaccination is not given to children in Malaysia compared to UK. By comparison, you could seen below the immunisation schedule for baby aged one-three month. Its almost the same. Sorry for any wrong information since i am not a doctor or nurse. This only based on my observation.

In my point of view, vaccination is important for our child. Although some of us would think that vaccination is not natural and so on,but taking into account that the food we serve is not 100 percent natural and the creative mutation of the bacteria and virus nowadays, i have no objection for vaccination! Go vaccination for your children future!

Thats all i want to share with all of you. Daaa..
